Camille was nominated by her dear friend and fellow broadcaster, Steve Stripling, co-host of The Big Alaska Radio Show. Here’s some of what he wrote in his submission: “Camille’s positive impact is far-reaching. She’s been an example of broadcast professional and a community leader for the past 37 years. Among her many awards, Camille remains the only female broadcaster in Alaska to win the coveted Marconi Award, the highest acknowledgment in broadcasting by the National Broadcaster’s Association. During that time, CC was featured on the cover of “We Alaskans” as the highest rated classic rock jock in the COUNTRY! She’s received the Goldie for “Best Radio & Television Service to the Community Award for the “Fox Douthit College Drive created for the newborn of David Douthit, the only Alaskan soldier killed in the Gulf War. She lived in an RV during the holidays for many years raising tons of food for the Food Bank of Alaska. Using her MC and Auctioneer skills, CC has helped raise over $500,000 for non-profits throughout the city. Fondly known and adored as “CC,” Camille is beyond deserving for this honor and acknowledgment.”
